Application of titanium elbow
It is a kind of pipe fitting commonly used in pipeline installation, connecting two pipes with the same or different nominal diameter to make the pipeline turn at a certain angle, and the nominal pressure is 1-1.6mpa.
Properties of titanium elbow
It has excellent strength, hardness, low density, light weight, high temperature resistance, low temperature resistance, good machining performance and excellent corrosion resistance.
Production process of titanium elbow:
1. Mandrel method (thermoforming)
One of the common elbow manufacturing processes from titanium tube is mandrel method, which is a hot forming method.
In this method, the pipe is cut into the required length and pushed by a hydraulic plunger. The induction heating coil heats the pipe and pushes it through a mold called a "mandrel" that allows the pipe to expand and bend at the same time. This method can be used to manufacture a wide range of elbow diameters.
2. Extrusion method
In the cold extrusion method, the titanium tube with the same diameter and thickness as the finished product is passed through the die to form the desired shape. Usually used in small to medium titanium elbow.
The cut titanium tube is pushed into the cold bending die. Proper lubrication is required to avoid excessive friction and to protect the surface finish of the final elbow. The extruded titanium elbow is sent for heat treatment and machining, and then the appearance and dimension inspection are carried out.
3. Uo method
Uo method is used to manufacture medium elbow, tee and reducer. The plate is cut into a specially designed shape, which is first formed into a U-shape with a die, and then into an O-shape or tubular shape with another die. This is why this method is called uo method.
Once the fitting is made into a tumbler shape, it is welded from the inside and outside of the closed joint. The large titanium elbow is made by welding two separate plates. Similarly, the prepared titanium elbow was heat treated and machined, and then the appearance and dimension were checked.
4. Hot forming method
In the hot forming die bending method, the tube is heated to the forming temperature and formed in the die with a specific shape. This process can be repeated as needed to obtain the required shape, size and wall thickness. Hot forming is usually applied to thick walled elbows that cannot be bent on a mandrel die.
